History

In 2001, a group of friends met for coffee to discuss art in their community. Previously, there had been little interaction between artists in the Woodinville area, and little chance to make that interaction possible. The founding members of Woodinville Artists Association fought to remedy this and in the same year as its inception Woodinville Artists Association was incorporated.

Art demos, critique meetings, discussion groups and shows were arranged to involve members. The business of running monthly business meetings put these type of meetings out of business.

Some members went on to strenghten other art organizations. A group met to discuss a co-op gallery that might occupy space in the Woodinville Tourist District.

The group now has a yearly business meeting and a critique group every month for members to come together and get another artist's view on their pieces. Discussion groups are occassionally arranged for artists to share ideas and ideologies about art and life are . Starting in 2004 an even broader vision for the group emerged which included involvement with community wide events and a vision for a Sammamish Valley Art Center.

During this time, Apple Farm Village was being put together with the thought of it being art oriented. On completion of the first phase of the project, the last space available (and the first to be considered by WAA members as gallery ) finally opened in October 2007 as part of the Woodinville Harvest Festival with 14 artists as Gallery 113 . The vision of a Sammamish Valley Art Center is now on the horizon.

If you are interested in joining the effort to give the community a look at the artists in their midst, the members of Gallery113 would be happy to welcome you.
