When I was in my 20's and 30's, I spent many years living and studying art in Nepal, India and Japan. Those years made a big impact on my life. Although I no longer paint in the Asian style, I have turned again to some of the lessons I learned from those past studies. The current direction in my art has actually taken me to the past. I am looking for the magic and mystery in a place, a face or a memory. I try to capture a special mood by using unusual elements like gold leaf and hand ground pigments from stones. I feel that time and history are a part of the message in my work now.
